Snorkeling in Molokini Crater is undeniably one of the best parts about visiting Maui. Here in this crescent, submerged volcano off Maui’s southern coastline, over 250 species of fish inhabit a world-class reef. Experience water so exceptionally clear you can see down 75 feet, and swim with schools of tropical fish while cruising the vibrant reef. You can also just sit and suntan on the deck, with sweeping views of Haleakala set just off the back of the boat.

What To Expect
From Maalaea Harbor, board a 55-foot, glass bottom catamaran for a Molokini snorkeling tour. On the hour long cruise to Molokini Crater, take in the views of Haleakala volcano, and try to identify the four other islands that are scattered across the horizon. You’ll also hear commentary from an onboard naturalist who serves as your guide.
Upon arrival at Molokini Crater, splash into the waters teeming with thousands of fish, and cruise over one of Hawaii’s healthiest coral reefs. With its deep sand channels, shallows sections of reef, and wealth of colorful marine life, Molokini Crater is an exceptional outing for experts and first-timers alike. You can also take a turn on the waterslide.
If you'd like to see the marine life without getting wet, peer through glass on the bottom of the boat, where children and families can watch schools of fish.
Once you've finished snorkeling in Molokini Crater, you’ll enjoy a delicious, savory lunch (vegan and gluten free options available). When everyone is done snorkeling, we will open our bar of beer, wine, and seltzers for you to enjoy during our cruise back to the harbor.

I highly recommend the Four Winds II. The boat is big enough to not make you throw your cookies, but small enough to feel comfortable. The crew were friendly and easy going. Bathrooms were clean. Breakfast and lunch were yummy. Snuba was fun and easy. And the crater has a beautiful reef and amazing visibility. Overall A+ experience!

Great experience! Breakfast was fruits and croissants, and other items. Lunch was fish and pulled pork tacos and hot dogs for kids. Drinks were included which was great. Very nice boat and bathrooms were nice. Limited seating on top deck so arrive early. Got to see some whales on the way and snorkeling gear and instructors were awesome. Would do it again!

Crew was awesome. Lunch exceeded our expectations with the taco bar! They had a nice variety of drink options too. Boat and bathrooms were clean. I have been on other boats to Molokini and this was by far my best experience. Would recommend to anyone!

Probably the best excursion we have ever taken as a family, and we travel a lot all over the world!
Booked this particular company/tour because I had read an article about it being family friendly. It was a beautiful new boat, not packed like some of the other tours departing by us, ample well-trained staff who were friendly and authentic—this did not feel touristy at all! We are staying at the Ritz-Carleton in Kapalua and the service level was equivalent to that! Wow!!!
Amazing food and beverage — we weren’t even expecting to eat the food—it was grilled and catered beautiful items we all liked. Fountain soda beverages (and adult beverages we did not consume).nEven the restroom on the boat was clean and nice!
I personally loved the glass bottom viewing/hull. I am not a huge snorkeling fan, but joined with my family and the two of us who did not snorkel still got to see the underwater wildlife.
The captain and staff could tell most on the boat were interested in seeing whales too, so a few times we slowed down on our way to and from snorkeling to see the whales. We saw so many and got some amazing pics of their tails and even saw one jump out of the water. It was epic!
This excursion was the highlight of our family trip to Maui for Christmas 2024. Thank you to all of the staff!

We had a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend this tour to all the people. The whole crew was really good. Food was delicious. My wife and I visited Hawaii for the first time, and snorkelling in the Pacific Ocean was our dream. But honestly speaking, we were scared. My wife doesn't know swimming, and she almost said no to snorkeling. However, she did the snorkelling, and she enjoyed it a lot. She was happy and confident now to do more water activities. Thanks to the crew member Dane. He guided my wife very well. He not only boosted her confidence by being with her in the water; he also made her comfortable and made her dream come true. She was not only happy but she wanted to go back and wanted to go snorkelling and even scuba diving. We both are really thankful to Mr. Dane for creating a wonderful experience in our lives. All other team members were also really good and took good care of everyone. If you are looking for snorkelling in Maui, close your eyes and book Four Winds for a wonderful experience.

Bad weather day. Captain and crew pulled out all the stops to locate suitable alternate snorkel location along West Maui coast due to high winds, which is much appreciated. Unfortunately, my experience expectations were tied to previous experience snorkling at the Malokini Crater and Turtle Town. Operator, vessel and crew were fantastic!! I will book with them again. First timers were satisfied with the experience. I would have preferred the trip had been cancelled due to weather.

Safety is always our top priority. If our trusty captains believe they can safely take you snorkeling at an alternate location when weather does not permit at Molokini, they will continue to a secondary location. We mention at the time of booking, on our website, and in our confirmation and reminder emails that "Molokini is weather permitting". When Molokini is unfavorable, the wind direction at our secondary location often is different and provides a safe and beautiful place to snorkel.

The crew was amazing. Unfortunately the winds were too rough and the captain made the right decision to go to another spot. He ensured our safety throughout the ride. The second place we did swim with turtles and the fish were plentiful. I would definitely recommend this trip. Mahalo!

If you have a family, there really isn’t another choice. If you want a clean boat with an attentive staff, still a definitive choice. My mother came with me and she’s pretty hard to please and easily disgust and had a great time. If you have a non-swimmer in the group they have safe options for fun as well. The staff was the night light of the tour as customer service is so important and they get it right. I also looked around at the other boats in the dock…very happy with my choice.
