Once a hot-spot destination for Portuguese royalty and other famous figures—Lord Byron called it a "glorious Eden"—Sintra is widely acclaimed as one of the country's most beautiful locales. Its gardens, tiled villas, colorful palaces, and neo-Gothic structures are all surrounded by verdant hills rolling toward the Atlantic Ocean.

Sintra Tour was Great!
Danilo was a wonderful guide, entertaining and informative! He definitely is passionate about Sintra, and Portugal, and that’s matched by his knowledge of sites and the area! Clean & comfortable car, very safe driver! Our group of four was so pleased that we took this tour option!

Sintra Palace tour
Had a great 1/2 day tour with Margarida to see Sintra and Monserrate Park. We didn’t go our first time in Sintra because the line to get into Sintra was too long. Suggest buying your entrance pass online or at the entrance which gets you only into the grounds not inside palace which is where all the waiting takes place. Good driver, clean car and very knowledgeable.

Great guide, underwhelming sights.
Bruno did an excellent job as guide but we found Sintra distinctly underwhelming, Pena Palace small and slightly grubby with huge queues which you have to follow just to get out, the highlight was Cascais, fresh clean vibrant with a great choice of excellent restaurants. We enjoyed the day but due a lot to Brunos enthusiasm. Note also we were the last couple to be picked up and seats had almost run out in the minibus so we had to sit separately which also spoiled the day a little.

Magical day in Sintra!
We booked this tour at the last minute after seeing the hills in Sintra! But Wemerson made it super unique and magical. His knowledge, sense of humor, and details made the tour spectacular! The Tuk Tuk was clean and comfortable! Highly re!

Q:What is the best way to see Sintra?
A:
Day tours from Lisbon that include transport are the best way to visit. These save you the hassle of taking public transport and let you soak up the scenery as you're transported between spaced-out sights. Tours typically cover all of the top tourist attractions, and include entry tickets and a tour guide.
Q:Can you go to Sintra without a tour?
A:
Yes, but the trip does involve quite a lot of organization—you'll need to buy Sintra tickets for each attraction in separate time slots, as well as arrange train, bus, and taxis to get to and around the area.
Q:What is the best day to go to Sintra?
A:
The best days to visit Sintra are Tuesday or Wednesday. Visiting on either of these days helps you avoid the brunt of the crowds, as most people visit Lisbon as part of a long weekend, between Thursday and Monday. The winter months—from November through January—also see fewer people at each of Sintra’s attractions.
Q:Is Sintra a walkable city?
A:
Yes, the UNESCO-listed center is small and compact, which makes it easy to navigate on foot—Sintra National Palace is also right in the center and Quinta da Regaleira is a 10-minute walk. However, Pena National Palace and Castle of the Moors—are around 30 minutes' walk from the center via steep routes.
Q:What are the best tours in Sintra?
A:
The best tours in Sintra take you to the town's most popular attractions and save you the hassle of driving or taking the train. Tours typically cover the UNESCO-listed historic center, National Palace, Quinta da Regaleira, Pena National Palace, and the Castle of the Moors, as well as the seaside town of Cascais and Cabo da Roca, Europe's westernmost point.
Q:Can you visit Sintra in half a day?
A:
Yes, but you might not get to spend much time at each attraction. If you're short on time, avoid having to wait for the trains by opting for a tour with private transport and book skip-the-line admission tickets, so you don't waste time waiting.
